Cincinnati, OH, November 6, 2008 – Bounty? paper towels spokesperson, Darice Thompson and Ed Gordon, award-winning television journalist and brainchild of Daddy’s Promise, are on the second stop of their national church tour, which launched in September in Detroit. On November 14, Thompson and Gordon will visit with the leadership and congregation of megachurch, The Potter’s House, founded by successful entrepreneur, global advocate and philanthropist, Bishop T.D. Jakes’. The event will be held from 7 – 10:30 pm at the Ruthe Jackson Center, 3113 S. Carrier Parkway, Grand Prairie, TX, to accommodate more than 1,000 Potter’s House members and guests. As part of The Potter’s House Family Night, Thompson and Gordon will address and celebrate the bond between fathers and daughters. Gordon will discuss his special bond with his 14-year-old daughter Taylor and fathers will be asked to join Gordon in the Daddy’s Promise Pledge to show and acknowledge their love and support for their daughters.

“As a father of two wonderful daughters, and spiritual father of many, I am honored to be a part of a program that fosters meaningful and compassionate relationships between fathers and their daughters,” said Bishop T.D. Jakes, founder and senior pastor of The Potter’s House church in Dallas, Texas. “With increasing numbers of absentee fathers, initiatives such as Daddy’s Promise are not only essential to building solid bonds between daughters and their dads, but also vital to building a young woman’s self-esteem, and reaffirming her uniqueness, beauty and strength.”

During The Family Night celebration, Bounty will host a special cooking station with Chef Rahman “Rock” Harper, winner reality television show, Hell’s Kitchen, season three along with his four-year-old daughter, Leah. The cooking demonstration is designed to foster an environment that provides dads and daughters time to nurture their special bond through cooking and cleaning together. An ice cream station will also be available, allowing families to make and enjoy ice cream sundaes while cleaning up their messes with Bounty paper towels. In addition, fathers and daughters can have their portrait taken together during the evening.
As a part of Daddy’s Promise to salute fathers pledging a lifetime of love to their daughters, Bounty launched Bounty’s Promise, a nationwide search for dads and daughters who exemplify the special father/daughter bond. At Bountyspromise.com loved ones can nominate their favorite father/daughter duo, or dads can nominate themselves and one daughter, for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to New York and an extraordinary package that includes VIP tickets to the Daddy’s Promise father/daughter dance in June, 2009 and other great prizes.

“Bounty is a family brand and we understand the importance of supporting families and we are proud to join Ed Gordon and The Potter’s House family in encouraging fathers and father figures to take a keen interest in the lives of their girls,” says Darice Thompson, Assistant Brand Manager for Bounty.
Launched on June 12, 2008 by television journalist, Ed Gordon, Daddy’s Promise is designed to engage the African American community in the positive relationship that can and should exist between fathers/ father figures and daughters. The initiative encourages fathers to be active in their daughters’ lives. As title sponsor, Bounty is committed to helping families clean up the little messes and spills in life so they can focus on the quality time that makes the father/daughter relationship strong, loving, fun and enduring.
“Fathers play a crucial role in their daughters’ success, both personal and professional,” says Ed Gordon. “We want to acknowledge the tremendous impact that the father-daughter bond can have in helping girls grow into resilient, confident women and to facilitate the first steps in establishing healthy relationships between girls and the men who help raise them.”
