A Hilarious and Irreverent New Movie that Redefines Family Ties

Homie Spumoni

Starring Donald Faison, Whoopi Goldberg, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Joey Fatone, Paul Mooney and Tony Rock
Premiering on DVD October 9, 2007

Burbank, Calif., August 13, 2007 - Warner Home Video presents the DVD premiere of Homie Spumoni, a tale of a mindboggling family reunion and the scars that come with it! An uproarious fish out of water comedy about a young man who grows up thinking he's Italian and then learns he's actually African American, Homie Spumoni stars Donald Faison of the screwball TV series "Scrubs", Whoopi Goldberg and an all-star supporting cast. Directed by the co-writer of You, Me and Irene, The Ringer and Stuck on You, Homie Spumoni includes a 15-minute featurette and gag reel and has a suggested retail price of $24.98.

Faison's offbeat charm shines in the leading role of Homie Spumoni, with Academy Award™ winning actress Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act I & II, Ghost), Jamie-Lynn Sigler ("The Sopranos"), Joey Fatone (of the global pop sensation N'Sync and TV hits "Dancing with Stars" and "The Singing Bee"), legendary comic Paul Mooney ("Chappelle's Show," The Hollywood Shuffle), and Tony Rock ("All of Us," brother of comedian Chris Rock) portraying the gallery of unforgettable comic characters who turn his world upside down.

In a raucous tale of race, family and great food, Renato (Faison), the hockey-loving, Sinatra-singing adopted son of Italian immigrants, works at Enzo's Deli, volunteers at the local animal shelter and hangs out with his buddy, Buddy (Joey Fatone). Completely convinced he's Italian-American like most of his friends and co-workers, Renato is more than a little skeptical when an African-American couple unexpectedly turns up to claim him as their long lost son, Leroy. Thelma (Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg) and George (Paul Mooney) walk a fine line between devoted and demented as they spirit him off to Baltimore, where his new found brother Dana (Tony Rock) is determined to teach him the basics of being black. Suddenly, nothing in Renato's life will ever be the same.

Directed by Mike Cerrone and co-written by Cerrone (Me, Myself and Irene), Steve Cerrone and Glenn Ciano, Homie Spumoni's DVD release will be supported by an extensive collegiate targeted consumer marketing campaign driven by TV, trailers, online, publicity and grassroots initiatives.

Eva Davis, Warner Home Video Vice President, Targeted Marketing & Acquisitions commented: "With a talented director, a hilarious all-star cast of comic greats, and an inspired script, Homie Spumoni is a feature film that transcends boundaries. Its audacious, oddball take on identity is sure to delight a broad audience."

Homie Spumoni DVD Special Features include:

  • Deep Fried and Covered in Sugar - Joey Fatone, Tony Rock and Paul Mooney bring down the house with a totally candid and unscripted exchange during a meal at the world famous Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles restaurant in Los Angeles.
  • Rib tickling Gag Reel
